From the History
Back in 1952, George Stemac opened his guest cabins for vacationers looking for a quiet spot to enjoy Little Bay de Noc and its premier fishing. He kept the popular cabins operating for more than 50 years, shutting them down three years ago when he was 96 years old.
Now Bob and Cindy Stemac and their son Michael have reopened the cabins continuing Uncle George's tradition of cozy cabins on the bay with quality fishing.
Word is spreading among old customers of the reopening. Cindy and Bob tell of one man's excitement to check back into his favorite cabin where he had stayed for more than 20 years. Repeat and new customers will find the Stemac's are sprucing things up in the seven cabins with new showers and many other new updates.
Six of the cabins have two bedrooms and fully-equipped kitchen facilities. The seventh is motel-style, divided into two units. All of them have microwave and air-conditioning. Boaters can launch right next door at the public access dock pulling their boat around to Stemac's protected dock where there is a fish cleaning station. Freezers are available on-site to preserve the day's catch. A bait shop is located next to the public access dock. Swings and lounge chairs along the shore, gas and charcoal grills, and picnic tables are all available to make one's stay more comfortable and home-like.
Stemac's are looking forward to hosting both professional fishing tournament participants and casual weekend fishing guests between May and October, keeping Uncle George's spirit alive in the Kipling area.
